Standard features in UltraEdit include word wrap support, the ability to open multiple files, context sensitive help,the ability to retain the position of files upon closing the app (similar to TextPad's 'Warm Start' feature), advanced find and replace capabilities (with 'Find in Files' and 'Replace in Files' features), an extremely useful 'QuickOpen' feature, a configurable toolbar (with up to ten user-defined tool buttons), disk-based text editing (up to 2GB file size), bookmarks, word and line count options, auto-save capabilities, configurable keyboard mapping, and
comprehensive macro support.
More advanced features that you won't find in most other text editors include a useful File Tree View,configurable syntax highlighting (pre-configured for C/C++, VB, HTML, Java, and Perl), a built-in Hexadecimal Editor (allows editing of binary files), file sorting (with ascending, descending, remove duplicate, and ignore case options), UNIX/MAC file conversions (to and from DOS), a Favorite Files list that can storeup to 200 user-selected files, multi-level undo and redo, drag and drop editing, an option for viewing the current file in your default browser, and IntelliMouse scrolling support.
Where UltraEdit really shines is in its unique collection of features that are not shared by competing software.
These include menu tabs for quickly switching between open documents, projects/workspaces for simplified maintenance of large groups of documents, column/block mode editing, named templates, options for saving files to and opening files from FTP sites, and a 'Replace in Files' feature that allows you to conduct find and replace operations on multiple files (including all files in a directory or directories).
